FITC Seoul 2008

FITC Seoul – A one whole day event that brought many of the world’s top designer and developers together. Among the presenters were Erik Natzke, Richard Galvan, Kyle Cooper, Joshua Davis, Euna Seoul, Ralph Hauwert and Marcos Weskemp.

14th October 2008, COEX Auditorium, Gangnam-gu. Seoul

Its taking me a long time to post about this event, but I have just been too busy with work and projects lately. Before my memory of it deteriorates (not that it wasn’t memorable), here goes…

Richard Galvan of Adobe

Richard Galvan, the first to present describes Adobe’s direction for the future and along the way introduced the new Flash CS4 and its new functionalities.

"Digital Storytelling" - Euna Seoul

Euna Seoul was my favourite presenter that day. Her storytelling process was inspiring and innovative.

Marcos Weskam on "Creating an Environment Data Reactive Installation"

Joshua Davis of Joshua Davis Studio.

I would say that Joshua Davis won the best presenter on that day. A funny and cool guy that lightens up the crowd.

His work has been my favourite since my early web designer days.

Kyle Cooper of Prologue Films.

If you’ve watched Iron Man and Tropic Thunder, then you’ve seen his company’s work for the title sequences. I particularly like his early work for the movie Se7en (Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt) where he did this unique intro titles for the movie.

To conclude, the event was too short for a one day event. Some presentation felt ‘rushed’ and compacted for me and I was actually hoping to see more of their amazing work in more details. No refreshment were provided for the participants and further more, there was no souvenir to bring back home – the goody bag contained a few booklets and a magazine and it was all in Korean. I hope the organizers can be more ‘creative’ on this area in the future events.

Overall, I was satisfied with the presenters. Them sharing their amazing work and knowledge was to me a great experience to have – I’m honored to be there.
