Wasai Dadap

Wasai Dadap, or should I say Dadap stream or ‘little waterfall’, is not a typical tourist attraction and is mostly known only by the locals. This waterfall is not spectacular but its rather close to the city. It would be a nice camping site for the weekend and its easy to find. This morning, feeling that I haven’t been shooting outdoors for a while, I decided to check this place out.

Getting There

If you are looking for a guide or road signs, you wouldn’t find any! Located in Mukim Kilanas, getting there is just a 15 minutes drive from Bandar Seri Begawan. If you are travalling from Jalan Gadong and reached the Kilanas traffic lights, turn left and look for Jalan Dadap on your right (pass the fuel station and the Bebatik-Kilanas junction).

Take another 5 minutes drive till you reached the areas shown below. You won’t find and signs or directions that indicates the Wasai Dadap location. Refer photo and google map below for the trail entrance.

Once you’ve arrived, park your car next to the road and take a 5 minuets walk into the woods. Walking to the location is fairly easy; all you have to do is walk straight until you hear the sound of the waterfall(you can’t miss it).

What to expect

Before getting there, its recommended that you wear trekking shoes (tho I was only wearing my ‘Crocs’ today) because the trail getting to the location can be muddy and slippery so be careful. Mosquito repellent can be handy too if you can’t stand them. Since I’m going there to shoot the waterfall, I brought along my tripod, a Polarizing filter and a wide lens to get the best effect.

The Shots

Here are some decent shots taken using Nikon D5000 with AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm(kit lens).
